TCS Consulting utilizes a uniquely structured ‘Forensic Engineering’ approach in your manufacturing sites garnered from our engineering experience in Fortune 500 corporations. Phase I: Initial Site Visit & Estimate A Phase I study will involve a site survey to understand current manufacturing processes and business practices related to trial and project work.,. Phase I involves interviews with key Technical and Production staff to identify qualified projects. The result is an estimate of the potential benefits and financial return, and the costs for a Phase II project. A strategy is also developed specifically for your organization to improve your internal documentation system and train your personnel in using the new system. Phase II: ‘Forensic Engineering’, Internal Documentation Coaching, Training and Assembly of Summary Documentation: - Training — we work with your Engineers, Technical, and Production staff so they understand the sort of project work which qualifies for the credit. This is generally eye opening for your staff; they realize a lot of their time is spent on qualified activities.
- Forensic Engineering — is a very thorough process of gathering all available data on qualified projects and activities. Like good detective work, this painstaking method uncovers a thorough picture of the qualified activities.
- Coaching — we work with Technical and Production staff to improve or develop a solid system for contemporaneous (internal) documentation, ensuring better returns in the future, then train them in the time-efficient use of the system.
- Assembly of Summary Documentation — taking all the data assembled by our forensic engineering efforts, we provide a structured presentation with embedded contemporaneous documentation of all qualified research expenditures, along with a Methodology Memorandum and Interview summaries.
Phase III: Ongoing annual work - Annual assembly of summary documentation
- Refresher training—tax code changes, new case law, train new employees
- Implement new Best Practices for internal documentation system.
